Noise in the aviation sector has the peculiarity that it is traditionally perceived by the population as a problem with no possible solution. We have interviewed Eva Santos, an expert in Aeronautical Noise and Environment, for MEET OUR TEAM section and she explains that not only is the perception of noise annoyance influenced by non-acoustic factors, but that there are solutions to reduce this annoyance and is applied whenever possible.
Environmental noise is cross-linked with the different actors in air transport and, at the same time, with external actors. For this reason, a very broad and multidisciplinary vision of noise is necessary, and it is essential to help the aeronautical authority to consider all aspects of the noise problem, because the solution is not always exclusively aeronautical. SENASA's role as technical assistance to the aviation authority regarding noise is crucial, especially considering the evolution of environmental regulations, which now focuses not only on noise levels, but also on annoyance and its effects on population health.
In this interview to Eva Santos you can find out in detail how SENASA works now that we are in a time of important regulatory changes, which will give a boost to environmental noise tasks at airports and will allow us to participate in an exciting project supporting the authority.
