AIR CONTROLLERS FROM ANGOLA RECEIVE THEIR TRAINING AT SENASA

Madrid, June 28th, 2023

SENASA hosts a new group of international air controllers for the training and improvement of Air Traffic Control skills. This training is delivered at 24 air controllers of Air Navigation Service Provider of Angola, the ENNA-EP (Empresa Nacional de Navegação Aérea de la República de Angola) which with this initiative aims to increase the capacity of air traffic management and improve aviation safety in the African country.

This course will involve two groups of Angolan air controllers, who will undergo conversion from procedural air traffic control to surveillance air traffic control. The first group, consisting of ten students, will carry out their training from June 26th to August 11th, focusing on Approach with Surveillance training, in order to equip them with the APS Rating. The second group, consisting of 14 air controllers students, is scheduled to join the course on August 14th until September 29th , focusing on Area with Surveillance training, which will give them the ACS Rating.

SENASA carries out these courses as a result of an agreement with ENNA-EP, which seeks to promote collaboration, support and mutual advice on training projects and aeronautical training, among other matters. This is the first time that SENASA trains Angolan air traffic controllers, which sum up to a long experience in international air traffic control training, having previously instructed professionals from countries such as Cape Verde, Ghana, Mozambique or Georgia.

Since it began its activity in 1995, more than 3,500 national and international students have already been trained at SENASA's Air Traffic Control School. SENASA has more than 14,000 sq meters of facilities for the education and training of air traffic controllers, with replica tower, approach and area simulators equipped with SACTA technology, which has made it a national and international reference centre for the training of air traffic control professionals.
