The XVII promotion of Approach and Enroute Air Traffic Control, formed by four female and two men students, concludes their initial training in Air Traffic Control at SENASA. After having successfully completed all the phases of their initial training, which lasted more than six months, the student controllers have obtained diplomas accrediting their Approach and Enroute Control Ratings (APP, APS, ACP and ACS). The training, which has been approved by AESA, also includes a module on adaptation to specific elements of the functional airspace block (SW FAB) and the national environment in all the ratings given.
With these ratings and having satisfactorily completed the initial training in Air Traffic Control, the new student controllers will be able to join the unit training in the different air traffic control units distributed throughout the Spanish territory that are assigned to them.
The closing ceremony of this XVII promotion of student controllers was chaired by Andrés Arranz, President and CEO of SENASA, who handed over their diplomas showing the pride and support of the organisation for the training of these professionals who, from now on, will form a key part of aviation safety. Arranz also highlighted very positively the presence of women among the students, the majority of this year's graduating class.
SENASA stands out for the excellent preparation of these air traffic controllers to face the future challenges of the sky and aviation, as well as their key role, placing value on the human factor in aviation safety.
SENASA's air traffic control school is a national and international reference. More than 3500 students from all over the world have been trained in its classrooms since it started its activity in 1995. SENASA has replica simulators and SACTA equipment and software in its facilities, in accordance with the EU requirements included in the European Regulation 340/2015.
