The XVIII Promotion of Air Traffic Controllers concludes their initial training at SENASA, after successfully passing the Approach and Enroute course (Module 2) with the aim of obtaining the corresponding ratings that will allow the new student controllers to join the assigned unit training in the different air traffic control units distributed throughout the Spanish territory.
On this occasion, this promotion formed by four students, the closing ceremony of the course took place in the facilities of the SENASA Air Traffic Control School, which has replica radar and tower control simulators. Those attending the event, students, family members, instructors and members of the school took a tour of the facilities where the student controllers have spent the approximately 27 weeks which this training lasted.
The closing ceremony of this XVIII promotion, held in the school's own facilities, was presided over by Andrés Arranz, President of SENASA, who handed out diplomas to the new graduates, accompanied by Francisco Vergara, Director of Air Navigation and Operations, Toni Bonilla, Manager of SENASA's School of Air Traffic Control and Head of Studies, who showed the organisation's pride and support for the training of these professionals who, from now on, will form a key part of aviation safety.
In addition to the contents of the course, the new student controllers have been provided in this initial training with a specific module for obtaining the GMS annotation corresponding to the ADI/ADV rating. Likewise, as it has been approved by AESA, the course includes the module on adaptation to specific elements of the functional airspace block (SW FAB) and the national environment in all the ratings required by ENAIRE.
Since 1995, SENASA has been operating as an AESA/EASA certified Air Traffic Control School. Throughout these years, more than 3500 people, both national and international, have been trained in our school, coming from 14 countries from different geographical areas. Currently, 85% of active ENAIRE air traffic controllers have been trained at SENASA. Furthermore, SENASA has a 98.5% pass rate in ENAIRE unit training.
