THE XIX PROMOTION OF AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS GRADUATES AT SENASA

Madrid, July 17th, 2024

The XIX promotion of SENASA's Air Traffic Control professionals, formed by 14 female students and 30 male students, celebrates its graduation during a special day with the presentation of diplomas. After having successfully passed all the phases of their Initial Full Rating Training, which lasted almost a year, the students obtained the diploma that accredits their Tower, Approach and En-route control ratings (ADV, ADI, APP, APS, ACP and ACS). This will allow them to join unit training in the different air traffic control units assigned to them throughout Spain.

On this occasion, the closing ceremony of the course and presentation of diplomas took place in a unique setting, the Real Casa de la Moneda in Madrid. Chaired by the President and CEO of SENASA, Andrés Arranz, the event was also attended by the Secretary General of Air and Maritime Transport, Benito Núñez, and the Director General of ENAIRE, Enrique Maurer. The Secretary General of Air and Maritime Transport highlighted the role of SENASA in the modernisation of air navigation services in our country, being a key player in the release of the first control tower, the introduction of the AFIS service and the SDP service as air navigation services. Enrique Maurer, General Manager of ENAIRE, welcomed the new air traffic control professionals who will be joining their corresponding units of ENAIRE, and highlighted the long history of close relationship with SENASA, with which it shares the common goal of training and providing the best air traffic control professionals who are a reference worldwide.

The closing ceremony of the course was attended by more than 200 people including students, family members and guests, authorities, representatives of institutions of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, ENAIRE, and representatives of the organisations USCA, APROCTA, OCCA, SNCA and SPICA. The student controllers were accompanied by their instructors and staff from the SENASA Control School, who handed them their diplomas, and supported them throughout the year in the development of their Initial Training.

The graduates received their diplomas from family members and instructors from SENASA's Air Traffic Control School who have accompanied and supported them throughout the year in the development of their Initial Training at SENASA's Air Traffic Control School in Madrid.

For SENASA, as its President and CEO, Andrés Arranz, pointed out, it is a pride to have a fully dedicated professional team in this School of Air Traffic Control, a team of expert instructors accredited by ENAIRE focused on providing quality training and excellence to future Air Traffic Control professionals, which has allowed the school to become a reference both in Spain and internationally. Andrés Arranz also highlighted the importance of the human factor in aviation safety, at a time when air traffic is gradually increasing throughout Europe.

More than 3500 people from all over the world have passed through the classrooms of the SENASA Control School, certified as a training centre by AESA/EASA, since it started its activity in 1995. SENASA has in its facilities replica simulators and the SACTA system used by ENAIRE, in accordance with the Community requirements included in the European Regulation 340/2015. 85% of ENAIRE's active Air Traffic Control professionals have been trained at SENASA's Air Traffic Control School.
