ASSESSMENT OF PREVIOUS COMPETENCE (APC) FOR A RATING REACTIVATION

 

The reactivation process of a rating, ADI+ADV, APP, APS, ACS or ACP. offered at SENASA comprises to parts:

  • Training (2 practical exercises) and familiarization with the simulator on which the evaluation is going to be made.
  • Assessment of practical skills in the simulator.

Objective

To assess the controller’s competence to exercise the privileges of a rating on the air traffic controller’s license, under Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/340, ATCO. B010 (b).

Practical abilities will be assessed, including performance and practical application of the knowledge and skills included in the evaluated rating training. In particular:

  • Demonstrate the capacity needed to manage air traffic in a way that ensures safe, orderly and fast services;
  • Manage the workload and deliver air traffic services within defined area of responsibility;
  • Apply the operational techniques and procedures of ATC service;
  • Deal with complex and unexpected situations.

Target audience

  • Air traffic controllers who had interrupted the exercise of the privileges associated to that rating for a period of four consecutive years or more immediately preceding.

  • Holders of a student air traffic controller license who had not started to exercise the privileges associated to such license in a period of one year from the date on which it was issued, or those who had interrupted its exercise for period of more than one year.

Contents

  • Training and familiarization with the simulator: Before the evaluation and with sufficient time for their analysis and learning, the candidates will perform two practical exercises (passed) and will receive basic knowledge about the simulator, data display and communication systems, airspace and simulated scenario procedures, as well as the evaluation criteria.

  • Assessment of practical skills: The assessment will consist of the execution of one exercise in a simulator with a duration of approximately 60 minutes.
