AIRPORT SECURITY MANAGERS

The Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) has established a certification procedure to ensure that persons designated as security managers at Spanish airports comply with the requirements of both Community and national regulations.

To participate in the certification process, candidates must meet the prerequisites detailed in the "Airport Security Manager Certification Procedure".

After passing the suitability assessment, described in the previous procedure, candidates shall participate in a training process, which shall obligatorily cover all the contents updated according to the latest normative version and specified in modules 11.2.2, 11.2.3.1* , 11.2.3.2*, 11.2.3.3.3*, 11.2.3.4,11.2.3.5, 11.2.3.7, 11.2.5, 2.0 and 14.0 of the National Training Programme (PNF).

AESA shall assess the AVSEC knowledge and skills of applicants for the Airport Security Manager certificate through an examination.

AAESA, in collaboration with SENASA, offers safety officers, who so wish, two complementary courses to prepare for certification. This preparation will consist of a basic course whose content will correspond to a regulatory training of the PNS (Block I) and specific training of security manager (Block II), and an a supplementary course where specific training will be given focused on the development and improvement of the activities to be performed as security manager (Block III). Managers may choose whether to participate in one of the courses, in both courses, or to sit the examination only, after demonstrating that they have acquired the required AVSEC training.

Once the process has been passed, security managers are issued with a certification valid for 5 years, which must be renewed before its expiry date.

Course objective:

  • The courses aim to provide the required training, by the requirements of the applicable regulations, which will provide these managers with the necessary training material and both the technical and pedagogical knowledge essential for the execution of their tasks as an airport security manager.
