AIRPORT NOISE

Noise from noise operations in the surroundings of the airports have been a source of social rejection and one of the forces, together with the economic, that can constrain the growth of civil aviation.
No one doubts the importance of general interest civil airports within the national economy; therefore is necessary for Authorities, operators, air services providers and all the stakeholders to understand the technical and legal framework, which allow them to provide a certain operational capacity and know the rights concerning the residents in the vicinity of the airports.

National and international regulation has been developed in the last years aiming to regulate and conciliate the conflict of interests between the aviation activities and the populations concerned.

In this course, the tools for addressing the noise problem with sound judgement are provided: thorough understanding of how and where it is generated, how it is measured and assessed, what are the rules and standards that apply to each stakeholder and what are the possible solutions to minimize the annoyance caused by aviation noise in nearby towns.

Course objetive:

  • Acquire an optimal level of regulatory and technical knowledge about aviation noise
  • Understanding the physical phenomenon of sound and forms of measurement
  • Knowledge of aeronautical noise sources and guidelines for its abatement: the concept of Balanced Approach.
  • Measurement methodology and assessment of aviation noise according to standards.
  • Description of abatement measures, corrective measures and disciplinary actions in order to reduce airport noise.

Addressed to:

  • Aviation authorities
  • Airport Operators
  • Air navigation services providers
  • Air carriers
  • Environmental and territorial authorities
