THEORETICAL/PRACTICAL TRAINING OF SPECIFIC CATEGORY (STS-ES) FOR UAS PILOTS

Course objectives

The objective of this course is to acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to pilot UAS in operational scenarios in a ‘specific’ Category that encompasses operations that carry medium risk.

It includes theoretical training and practical training and assessment in the two national standard scenarios (STS-ES) for UAS operations in the «specific» category:

  • STS-ES-01: VLOS over a controlled land area in a populated environment.
  • STS-ES-02: BVLOS with airspace observers over a controlled land area in a sparsely populated environment.

SENASA is an entity recognized by AESA for the training and evaluation of practical skills of remote pilots in standard scenarios (STS) according to the requirements indicated in the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947.

Application regulations

  • BOE-A-2020-16949, Resolution of the Directorate of the State Air Safety Agency approving national standard scenarios (STS-ES) for UAS operations in the «specific» category.
  • Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947 consolidated that includes changes to the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/639 and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/746.
  • Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 consolidated that includes the changes to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/1058.
