U-SPACE: EUROPEAN AIRSPACE FOR DRONES

RPAS are undoubtedly the new airspace user par excellence and civil use is growing very fast.

The acronym UTM (Unmanned Traffic Management) is widely used to describe a traffic management system that will support self-piloting aircraft.

U-space is a set of new services and specific procedures designed to support safe, efficient and secure access to airspace for large numbers of drones.

These services rely on a high level of digitalization and automation of functions, whether they are on board the drone itself, or are part of the ground-based environment.

Course objective

The objective of this course is to identify the problem and to know how the integration of RPAS operations in the European airspace and its airports is being addressed. This course pays special attention to the impact that this integration will have on the future of European aviation and the technological changes that will make it possible.
