INTRODUCTION
SENASA is an expert in the provision of aeronautical training services, as well as consultancy, technical assistance, aircraft maintenance and operation. In the field of ATC training, our center is a national leader, with more than 3.500 air traffic controllers trained since 1995. For this purpose, it has a team of highly qualified instructors and experts in the design of ATC simulation exercises.
All our courses are delivered in replica simulators, equipped with the systems and software (SACTA) used in Spain by ENAIRE and under the European common requirements included in the European Regulation 340/2015.
SENASA is certified by the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) as an ATC Training Center in the areas of Tower, Area and Approach, in accordance with national and European regulations (Reg. 340/2015).

COURSE OBJECTIVE
The aim of the Basic Initial Course (GYOTA) is to provide the knowledge to obtain the Basic Training diploma that allows the access to the ratings Initial training courses for air traffic controllers:
- Tower (ADI/ADV)
- Approach (APP/APS)
- Route (ACP/ACS)
COURSE CONTENT
The course is carried out jointly with the 2nd and 3rd year of the Degree in Management and Operations of Air Transport (GyOTA) and has the following contents:
- INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE.
- AVIATION LAW.
- AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT.
- METEOROLOGY.
- NAVIGATION.
- AIRCRAFT.
- HUMAN FACTORS.
- EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS.
- PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT.
The course includes a two-week practical simulation at the SENASA facilities in Madrid, once the theoretical training of the 2nd and 3rd GYOTA courses has been completed.
This training will be provided in air traffic control replica simulators of the Tower SACTA system with 180º visual projection and Route and Approach simulators with APS and APS FOCUS SACTA positions.
ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
The requirements to access the course are:
- To be at least 18 years old.
- To have a high level of English language (no accreditation is required although the reference level is C1 or equivalent).
- To have a high level of Spanish language (no accreditation is required although the reference level is C1 or equivalent).
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process carried out by SENASA consist of the following tests:
- FEAST 1 and 2:
- The FEAST (First European Air Traffic Controller Selection Test) is a test developed by EUROCONTROL specifically designed to select those applicants who wish to train to be air traffic controllers. It consists of two qualifying tests: FEAST 1 and FEAST 2, and a personality test (FEAST 3). Only candidates who are eligible for FEAST 1 will take the FEAST 2. The tests will be conducted in English.
- English assessment:
- Candidates will have to take a test to assess their English language proficiency.
- If a candidate is in possession of a valid certificate of language proficiency in English (ICAO level 4 or higher), he/she will not have to take the corresponding English test to access the course.
- In the case of candidates who do not hold Spanish nationality, or about whom those responsible for the course consider that they may have communication difficulties, SENASA reserves the right to perform a Spanish language assessment test to allow admission to the course.
- Personality assessment (personality test + personal interview):
- The test and the personal interview will be conducted by a specialized team of professional psychology experts. Their aim is to determine whether the candidate shows the personality traits required for the course and for the performance of the air traffic controller professional career.
