AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL INITIAL TRAINING TOWER, APPROACH AND AREA

INTRODUCTION
SENASA has a wide experience in the provision of aeronautical training services, as well as consultancy, technical assistance, aircraft maintenance and operation. In the field of ATC training, our centre is a national leader, with more than 2500 national and 1000 international air traffic controllers trained since 1995. For this purpose, SENASA has a team of highly qualified instructors and experts in the design of ATC simulation exercises.
All our courses are delivered in replica simulators, equipped with the systems and software (SACTA) used in Spain by ENAIRE and under the European common requirements included in the European Regulation 340/2015.
SENASA is certified by the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) as an ATC Training Centre in the areas of Tower, Approach and Area, in accordance with national and European regulations.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
The aim of the ATC Initial Training APPROACH AND AREA COURSE (Module 2) is to provide the knowledge and skills to obtain Approach (APP/APS) and Area (ACP/ACS) control ratings, as per European Regulation 340/2015.
The aim of the ATC Initial Training TOWER, APPROACH AND AREA COURSE (Full Rating) is to provide the knowledge and skills to obtain the Tower (ADI/ADV), Approach (APP/APS) and Area (ACP/ACS) control ratings, as per European Regulation 340/2015.
COURSE CONTENT
1. Module 2 course (APP APS ACP and ACS)
The course is divided in different phases, with an approximate total duration of 27 working weeks. It includes the following contents:
- Approach
- Approach Control Procedural rating (APP)
- Approach Control Surveillance rating (APS and TCL endorsement)
- Area
- Area Control Surveillance rating (ACS)
- Area Control Procedural rating (ACP)
- GMS endorsement training (ADI/ADV control rating)
Likewise, as it is approved by AESA, the course includes a module of adaptation to specific elements related to the Functional Airspace Blocks (SW FAB) and the national airspace environment in all ratings required by ENAIRE in point 3.2.1 under the terms of its external call for air traffic controllers of 11/12/2023.
2. Full Rating course (basic training, ADI ADV APP APS ACP and ACS)
The course is divided in different phases, with an approximate total duration of 47 working weeks.. It includes the following contents:
- Initial Basic training
- Tower
- Aerodrome Control Visual & Instrument ratings (ADV/ADI with TWR, RAD and GMS endorsements)
- Approach
- Approach Control Procedural rating (APP)
- Approach Control Surveillance rating (APS with TCL endorsement)
- Area
- Area Control Surveillance rating (ACS)
- Area Control Procedural rating (ACP)

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
The requirements to access the course are:
- To be at least 18 years old.
- To have a high level of English language (no accreditation is required although the reference level is C1 or equivalent).
- To have a high level of Spanish language (no accreditation is required although the reference level is C1 or equivalent).
SELECTION PROCESS
Those candidates who have not applied, or have partially passed ENAIRE’s external selection process for air traffic controllers of 11/12/2023 must complete SENASA’s selection process:
FEAST 1 and 2
The FEAST (First European Air Traffic Controller Selection Test) is a test developed by EUROCONTROL specifically designed to select those applicants who wish to train to be air traffic controllers. It consists of two qualifying tests: FEAST 1 and FEAST 2, and a personality test (FEAST 3). Only candidates who are eligible for FEAST 1 will take the FEAST 2. The tests will be conducted in English.
English and/or Spanish oral assessment
Candidates will have to take a test to assess their English language proficiency.
If a candidate is in possession of a valid certificate of language proficiency in English (ICAO level 4 or higher), he/she will not have to take the corresponding English test to access the course.
In the case of candidates who do not hold Spanish nationality, or about whom those responsible for the course consider that they may have communication difficulties, SENASA reserves the right to perform a Spanish language assessment test to allow admission to the course.
If a candidate is in possession of a valid certificate of language proficiency in Spanish (ICAO level 4 or higher), he/she does not have to take the corresponding language test.
Personality assessment (personality test + personal interview)
The personality test and the personal interview will be conducted by a specialized team of professional psychology experts. Their aim is to determine whether the candidate shows the personality traits required for the course and for the performance of the air traffic controller professional career.

- Course beginning: July edition July 18th, 2024. October edition, estimated date October 21st , 2024.
- Full Rating course (Initial Basic training, ADI ADV APP APS ACP and ACS): 48 places (July edition) and 24 places (October edition)
- Course beginning: July Edition, July 19th, 2024. October edition, estimated date October 22nd , 2024.

REINFORCEMENT TRAINING FOR THE SPECIFIC DESTINATION UNIT
To those students who pass the course, SENASA will provide, at no additional cost, a specific reinforcement practical training in a replica simulator. This course will be carried out on the dates previous to the incorporation of each student to the unit of destination and will be adapted to the unit's own qualifications.
This training will be carried out on SENASA radar replica simulators, equipped with SACTA technology.

CURSO DE FORMACIÓN INICIAL DE CONTROLADOR DE TORRE, APROXIMACIÓN Y ÁREA
En cumplimiento de lo dispuesto en el Reglamento (UE) 2016/679 del Parlamento Europeo y del Consejo de 27 de abril de 2016 (RGPD) relativo a la protección de las personas físicas en lo que respecta al tratamiento de datos personales y a la libre circulación de estos datos y por el que se deroga la Directiva 95/46/CE] a los que tenga acceso en el marco del presente contrato, de conformidad con lo establecido en dicho texto legal y en la normativa que lo desarrolla, y de acuerdo con lo dispuesto en la Ley 3/2018, de 5 de diciembre, de Protección de Datos Personales y garantía de los derechos digitales, el candidato queda informado, y expresamente consiente, la incorporación de sus datos y su tratamiento en calidad de responsable del mismo a Servicios y Estudios para la Navegación y la Seguridad Aeronáutica, S.
